Maria Mutola of Mozambique won a remarkable 16th consecutive win in the 800m event at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon. This is Mutola’s last appearance at the meet and the win was a fitting farewell for the middle distance legend. Mutola has 1 Olympic Gold, 3 Commonwealth Golds and 10 outdoor and indoor World Championship Gold Medals to her name. She will be competing in her 6th Olympics this year in Beijing and will hang up her spikes at the end of the year.
